Steven Owings

Vice President, Commercial Development, Prenatal Diagnostics

Mr. Steven Owings joined Sequenom in January 2007, bringing more than 28 years of business-leadership experience in the fields of diagnostics and biotechnology. Before joining the Sequenom team, he held a variety of managerial and sales positions during his nearly 20-year tenure at Roche Diagnostic Systems, and served as Vice President of Marketing at Digene Corporation and at Visible Genetics, Inc. (purchased by Bayer Diagnostics in 2002). Among his many achievements, Mr. Owings helped launch the first FDA-approved HPV assay into the clinical diagnostics market, and facilitated the successful inauguration of Roche Diagnostic’s first FDA-approved test to measure the amount of virus in an HIV/AIDS patient’s blood. Most recently, as President, North America, of Primagen, Inc., he developed licensing agreements with major diagnostics and laboratory-service organizations.

Mr. Owings holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University.
